A local seed merchant, Vinod Sethi, who was missing from the past over one week, was found dead in Chandigarh.
Reportedly, the family identified the belongings of the deceased that the UT police had preserved before cremating the “unclaimed body” three days ago.
Deceased’s kin suspect foul play. The family members say that Sethi had gone to Chandigarh last week to settle some dispute with a Rohtak-based businessman. The duo had reportedly planned to meet at a hotel in Zirakpur on last Tuesday. After the scheduled meeting’s time, the family tried contacting him, but his mobile phones were found switched off.
Preliminary investigation reportedly indicated that he had left his briefcase with a security guard at the Kanoon Bhawan in Sector 37, but never returned to collect it.
Sethi was also called to appear in the office of district police in Fazilka on June 17 in connection with a case, the family said.
The family today lodged a complaint at the Zirakpur police station, demanding probe into the case.
