A Pakistani drone that was found in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar on December 2 had made three sorties in the Indian territory, according to an official.

The Rajasthan district is close to the International Border with Pakistan and adjoins Punjab.

The official did not reveal whether drug smugglers from the neighbouring country dropped heroin packets or pistols from this drone.

A case has now been registered by the Border Security Force (BSF) against unknown persons under the Indian Aircraft Act.

According to the police, the case has been registered on the basis of the report given by Inspector Ravinder Kumar of the 77th Battalion of the BSF.

The police said the drone was found in a field at Chak 9-F village, adjacent to the Shekhsarpal border post of the BSF.

They said a forensic investigation revealed that the drone made three rounds of the Indian territory between December 1 and 2.

During the third flight, the drone crashed due to some technical fault.

BSF steps up security

Meanwhile, the BSF has intensified patrolling along the border with Pakistan in Fazilka’s Jalalabad to prevent anti-national activities from across the fence amid dense fog caused by cold weather conditions, an official said on Saturday.

The move came a month after a drone and packets containing heroin were recovered in the border area in separate incidents. According to officials, these were pushed from across the border by drug smugglers for sale in the state.

The official said the security has been tightened on the orders of Ravi Ranjan, Commandant of the 52nd Battalion.
