Seminar calls for collective effort against drug abuse
A seminar addressing the critical issue of drug abuse was held at G R D Co-Education College, Phagwara, with Dr Neelam Sethi, the college’s Education Director and an internationally renowned motivational speaker, as the keynote speaker.
Dr Sethi emphasised the devastating impact of drug addiction, likening it to diseases like leprosy and cancer that are ravaging Punjab’s youth. She identified the key factors contributing to substance abuse, which she termed the “Seven Fs”—Frustration, Fashion, Friend Circle, Failure, Family Matters, Free Atmosphere, and Financial Issues.
She stressed that drug addiction not only harms individuals but also threatens families, society, and the nation, warning that addicts may resort to extreme actions to support their habits. Dr Sethi called for a united effort involving families, educational institutions, government and non-government organisations, and law enforcement to effectively combat the crisis.
The seminar also featured other speakers who provided valuable insights on the issue. College Principal Gurjeet Kaur concluded the event by thanking all dignitaries and participants. The seminar was attended by a large number of faculty members and students, making it a thought-provoking and impactful session.
