Seven held for firing at house in Dhuri village

The police on Friday claimed to have arrested seven persons for firing at a house in Hassanpur village (Dhuri) on the night of August 4.

The accused were identified as Harmanpreet Singh, Taranvir Singh, Natish Bhatti, Gurnur Singh, Navjot Singh, Harman Singh and Amarinder Singh. Cops seized three country-made pistols, along with a magazine, a Bolero jeep and a motorcycle from them.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sartaj Singh Chahal said a case was registered in connection with the incident under Sections 109, 125, 3 (5), 61 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25, 54, 59 under the Arms Act at the Dhuri Sadar police station.

The SSP said Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Hassanpur village, had told the police that unidentified persons had fired at his house and later he came to know that Harmanpreet Singh, a resident of Mullowal village (Dhuri), was involved in the incident. During investigation, seven persons were arrested in the case.
