Seven Punjabi youth stranded near Dushanbe, Tajikistan, after being allegedly deceived by an Indian agent, will be safely repatriated to India on Monday, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney confirmed on Thursday.

The youth had released a distress video on October 19, claiming they were facing severe mistreatment by their employers in Rogan town. Responding swiftly, Sahney said he immediately took up the matter with the Indian Embassy in Tajikistan to ensure their safety and early return.

“The safety and dignity of every Indian abroad is paramount,” Sahney said, adding that his office remained in constant touch with the stranded men, sharing their Google location and passport details with Indian officials.

He also wrote to the Indian Ambassador in Tajikistan, urging immediate action and offered to personally sponsor their air tickets to expedite their repatriation.

Sahney expressed gratitude to the Indian Embassy for what he described as a “quick and proactive response,” calling the timely intervention a reflection of India’s commitment to protect its citizens abroad.

He also urged strict action against unscrupulous travel agents who mislead youth with false job promises overseas.
