During the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) executive meeting held here on Saturday, it was decided that its budget for the fiscal 2024-25 would be presented on March 29.

Extending support to the protesting farmers, the commitee decided to take up the matters pertaining to demands of farmers, release of ‘Bandi Singhs’ and Balwant Singh Rajoana, convicted for assassinating former Chief Minister Beant Singh. The executive passed a resolution in favour of the protesting farmers and asked the Union Government to endorse their demands. It also asked the Bhagwant Singh Mann government to extend help to the agitating farmers.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami chaired the executive committee meeting. He said to train the Sikh youth for PCS (Judicial) examination, an academy named Judicial Academy Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra Institute would be established at Bahadurgarh, Patiala. The SGPC is already operating ‘Nischay Academy’ in Chandigarh to train Sikh youth for civil services examinations.

Dhami slammed the Assam Government for installation of cameras inside the toilets of the Sikh youth lodged in Dibrugarh Jail. He sought that their privacy should be respected and human rights should not be violated. He also demanded that they be shifted from Assam to any jail in Punjab. He congratulated Ramesh Singh and Satwant Kaur for being appointed president and general secretary of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, respectively.

The SGPC executive also decided to offer 3 per cent DA to its employees, opening another YouTube channel to telecast Gurbani from Takht Damdama Sahib.
