The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) executive held a meeting on Tuesday, extending the probe duration against Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh by one month. The executive, led by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, passed a resolution extending the term of the investigation panel formed on December 19. The decision was made considering the upcoming election of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC).

A resolution condemned the police encounter of the three Punjab youths, terming it a serious violation of human rights and a deliberate action.

The executive also rejected its earlier resolution demanding the excommunication of Narain Singh Chaura, who made an abortive assassination attempt on former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The members condoled the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh by reciting the ‘moolmantar’ and passed a resolution paying tribute to his services in economics and statesmanship.
