Former senior vice-president of SGPC Rajinder Singh Mehta and former general secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla expressed shock over the closed-door meeting held at the personal residence of Giani Harpreet Singh in Bathinda yesterday. Former minister, now with the ‘dissident’ Akali faction Surjit Singh Rakhra was also present at the nearly hour-long meeting.

Mehta said: “We failed to understand what prompted Giani Harpreet Singh to hold such meetings? And that too, at a time when he is suspended from his post. Despite ideological differences, why has this meeting been held and what could be its agenda? This needs to be understood,” he said.
