Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, including high priests, urged the Sikh youth to adopt “Amrit Sanchar” (Sikh initiation ceremony or baptism). The SGPC and its Dharam Prachar Committee organised the event at Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib as the served head of Guru Tegh Bahadur was cremated here after it was brought back from Delhi by Bhai Jaita.

The SGPC organised competitions such as Dhadi Vaar, Gurbani Kirtan and declamation contests among students. In the evening, Bahi Jagtar Singh Khalsa and Hazoori Ragis from Darbar Sahib sang hymns. Bhai Jatinder Singh of Shaheed Sikh Missionary College, Amritsar, and Bhai Harjot Singh Zakhmi, head of the Ragi Jatha, Jalandhar, performed kirtan on the occasion. As the SGPC is conducting parallel functions, none of the prominent SAD leaders, including Sukhbir Badal, has visited Anandpur Sahib till the time of filing the report.
