With a view to prevent throwing of any substance into the Shaheedi Khoo (martyrs’ well) of the Jallianwala Bagh, the Union Ministry of Culture has directed the Archaeological Survey of India to cover the entire windows with glass.

Already a glass covering is there at the each window, but a two-foot space had been left open on the upper part. However, people keep on tossing objects, especially money, into the well. Following renovation to mark the centenary of the Jalianwala Bagh massacre in 2019, the historic place was opened to public in August 2021. Since then the staff have brought out Rs 8 lakh from the well.
