Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today set up a five-member disciplinary committee of the party in the backdrop of voices of change of leadership and policy of the party.
Maluka to head committee
The committee will be headed by senior Akali leader Sikandar Singh Maluka. The other members of the panel are Sharanjt Singh Dhillon, Virsa Singh Valtoha, Mantar Singh Brar and Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi.
In a warning to the rebels, who have been questioning party’s leadership and policies in public, the SAD chief said in a press release that it was open to views within the party parameters, but would not tolerate indiscipline.
The committee will be headed by the senior Akali leader Jathedar Sikandar Singh Maluka. The other members of the panel are Sharanjt Singh Dhillon, Virsa Singh Valtoha, Mantar Singh Brar and Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi.
The SAD president has also appealed to all party men to use only the party platform for a free and democratic expression of their views in keeping with the lofty traditions of the party.
“Every view for strengthening the party will be heard, respected and considered in all sincerity and seriousness within parameters of the party platform, as has been the time tested practice in the party. But there is no room for indiscipline in airing such views on internal matters of the party elsewhere, nor for any activity that provides material to enemies of the party, Panth and Punjab for spreading rumours to mislead public opinion against the organisation,” he said.
Manpreet Ayali, leader of the SAD Legislature Party, had sought a change in party leadership and went against the party diktat to vote for BJP nominee Droupadi Murmu in presidential election.
