Cong MLA’s grouse
Urmur Tanda MLA Sangat Singh Gilzian demanded that new tubewells be built in his constituency. Even as Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Razia Sultana assured him that the proposal to construct five tubewells was under consideration, the Congress MLA stressed on the project to be taken up as soon as possible, while he put his own minister on the mat. Gilzian also grilled Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla for not taking up the issue of unsafe school buildings in his constituency to which Singla responded that only some classrooms in 11 schools were unsafe.
Case of missing reply
Congress MLA Randeep Singh Nabha said he had sought a reply from the Chief Minister and the Industry Minister over the delay in the construction of a steel chamber in Mandi Gobindgarh. But against the rules of the House, the reply was not given to him. Speaker Rana KP Singh said it was not possible and Nabha offered that anybody could come and see his papers. His question was subsequently postponed.
Maiden speech
Moga MLA Dr Harjot Kamal had the House in splits as he made his maiden speech today. Before beginning his speech, he sought the Speaker’s intervention to stop AAP MLA Aman Arora and Akali MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu from interrupting, alleging that they were in a habit to interrupt everyone.
‘Depute medial specialists’
Garhshankar MLA Jai Kishan Singh Rori raised the issue of several posts of medical specialists lying vacant in his constituency during the question hour. He said sewage water was being mixed with drinking water and children were falling sick and there was no medical specialist to treat them. Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said the vacancies would be filled soon.
