Several organisations had given a call to organise a big gathering on February 3 in front of the residence of CM Bhagwant Mann in Sangrur to seek unconditional release of Sidhu. In view of the call, the police had laid nakas in various parts of Sangrur and Barnala districts to stop the protesters from reaching the CM’s residence.

In the FIR it has been stated by the police that the protesters, including the persons named in the FIR, had blocked NH-7 on February 3 at Badbar toll plaza with tractor-trailers and vehicles while the police tried to convince them to end the blockade.
