As the controversy over suspended Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s statements rages on, those loyal to her and her cricketer-turned-politician husband Navjot Singh Sidhu have chosen to remain silent.

Among those who have remained with the Sidhu couple in the thick and thin in the past include Jalandhar Cantonment MLA Pargat Singh, former Sultanpur Lodhi legislator Navtej Singh Cheema.

Meanwhile, former Congress chief Shamsher Singh Dullo, former minister Laal Singh and former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal too have not yet spoken in favour of the couple since the controversy broke out.

“There is no point entering into the storm. She is going too aloud. Her statements are certainly damaging the party at this critical juncture,” said one of the leaders.

Former minister Avtar Henry, who is also the chairperson of the disciplinary committee of the party, said, “If Navjot is making allegations of money being sought in the Congress, she must also tell if her husband had to do the same when he got appointed as the PCC chief or got a minister’s portfolio (in the previous Congress government).”
