Sukhwinder Singh, 67, a resident of Chawke village in Bathinda district, died of cardiac arrest in Pakistan’s Gujranwala on Monday night.
He was part of a 1,900-member Sikh jatha that crossed over to Pakistan on November 4 to celebrate the Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev.
Sources in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) said Sukhwinder Singh’s health deteriorated while he was driving in a cavalcade of buses heading to Lahore after visiting Gurdwara Rohri Sahib.
He was taken to a private hospital in Muridke Tehsil, where doctors declared him dead due to heart failure.
His cousin Harpal Singh, who was accompanying him, received his body.
