Six from Malerkotla in reorganised Waqf board

Six Malerkotla residents have been inducted in the reorganised 10-member Punjab Waqf Board. Among the four remaining members, three are from Ludhiana, Bhasaur and Patran.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Department of Home Affairs and Justice. While Dr Mohammad Jamil Ur Rahman, only Muslim legislator of the state, was re-inducted by virtue of being an MLA, Abdul Kadir of Ludhiana and Shamshad Ali of Sirhindi Gate, Malerkotla, were nominated in the Bar Council sub-section.

Yasmeen Parveen represented Sunni scholars and Sobia Iqbal was selected from Shia scholars. Mohammad Owais, an industrialist, has been inducted in the category of professionals. Showkat Ahmed Parray, an IAS officer, has been inducted from government officers.

Dr Anwar Khan of Bhasaur in Dhuri subdivision, Bahadur Shah of Nanhera village in Patran and Mohammad Shehbaz of Mohalla Chor Marran, Malerkotla, were also inducted.
