Chandigarh, July 13
Six years after the Chandigarh International Airport started functioning, the Punjab Government has received the first interim dividend of Rs 3.20 crore against the state’s investment in the project.
Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) on Monday presented a cheque of Rs 3.20 crore to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, by the way of first interim dividend against the state’s 24.5% equity share in the project.
The CM along with senior officials of the state government and the CHIAL reviewed the development of the airport.
He said the state government was fully committed to supporting the development of the airport, which held great promise for the overall growth and development of the Tricity and its hinterland in Mohali district.
Meanwhile, CHIAL CEO apprised the CM about 25 flights, connecting 16 destinations to Chandigarh, currently under operation.
Captain Amarinder noted that three new passenger boarding bridges, new apron with 14 parking bays and inline baggage system had been operationalised. He also expressed his happiness that the integrated cargo complex with perishable cargo centre was nearing completion and would start functioning by August. This, he said, would give a fillip to both perishable and non-perishable exports from the region.
The CEO said the construction of the southern taxi track had been completed and would start functioning soon after necessary safety clearances were obtained. He said this would result in reducing the turnaround time of the aircraft.
