New Delhi, July 24
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) launched a scathing attack on Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accusing her of prioritising the corporatisation of agriculture at the cost of farmers and workers. The morcha gave a call for burning copies of the Union Budget at the village level.
The SKM alleged that the Budget neglected the long-pending demand of comprehensive loan waiver to farmers and workers. As per official records, 31 farmers ended life by suicide across the country every day, it said. SKM leaders highlighted various areas where the Budget had allegedly fallen short of addressing the needs of the agricultural community.
