Soon, no requirement of NOC for registration of property in Punjab

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the state government was on the verge of completing the necessary formalities for doing away with the clause of no objection certificate (NOC) for registration of land and property.
The CM paid a surprise visit to the Tehsil complex here and inspected the delivery of the citizen-centric services. Later, he visited the office of the Tehsildar and witnessed the process of ongoing registries in the office. He also interacted with the people visiting the office and asked them about the hiccups they were facing while formulating the sale deeds.
While interacting with the media, Mann said the sole aim doing away with the NOC was to facilitate the general public as the illegal colonisers dupe people by selling flats in their unapproved colonies.
Mann said the hapless people then have to run pillar to post for getting the basic civic amenities in these colonies adding that the state government would safeguard the interests of the common man.
It was in February this year that the CM had stated that the government was doing away with the NOC formalities to ease the registration process. However, following the statement, the residents started converging at tehsils to get their sale deeds formulated where the revenue department officials told them that they had not received any notification pertaining to it.
This issue snowballed into a political controversy as opposition parties started accusing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government for taking the people for a ride. Later, it was stated that the government was formalising the policy so that NOC system could be done away with.
