The Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department has framed standard operating procedure (SOP) for issuing licences to develop colonies.
The SOP is divide into two stages, issuance of the letter of intent (within 30 days) and issuance of the licence (within 30 days), fixing the total time limit at 60 days from the date of application submission by the applicant.
Earlier, the licensing process for promoters was lengthy and complicated, often resulting in unnecessary delays.
Making the process time-bound, specific timelines have been fixed for each branch handling the case. Every official is required to adhere to the prescribed timelines and any unwarranted delay would invite disciplinary action.
