Officials and employees at the District Administrative Complex here today were given training to control fire in emergency situations. Sirhind Fire Officers Harpreet Singh and Inderpal Singh gave detailed information about firefighting.

Harpreet said the department was celebrating the Fire Safety Week till April 20 and various awareness activities were being conducted to control fire during the week.

He said due to high temperature during the summer season, sometimes fires break out in cars and other vehicles and it was necessary to have fire extinguishers. He said the use of fire extinguishers could prevent fire from spreading further and prevent the damage.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind said having information about firefighting could prove useful in emergency situations because with basic precautions major damage could be avoided. She asked the officials of the Fire Safety Department to check the fire extinguishers installed at the District Administrative Complex and take necessary action. Employees of various departments were present on this occasion.
