Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu has ‘advised’ Punjab Congress president Raja Amrinder Singh Warring to remain present among the people of Ludhiana who elected him as their MP.

Bittu reminded Warring of his campaign promise to purchase a home in Ludhiana and live among the constituents. “Now, the people of Ludhiana have begun putting up posters of the ‘missing MP’. During my two terms as Ludhiana MP, such posters were never seen,” remarked Bittu, while speaking to The Tribune on the sidelines of an event here today.

Condemning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Bittu asked, “Why don’t the Pakistan-sponsored terrorists confront Indian security forces directly? Why are they targeting innocent civilians?” He emphasised that the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Defence Minister had all declared that the country would take revenge.

Regarding the upcoming Ludhiana (West) by-election, Bittu said the BJP had received over 25 applications from potential candidates. “We are currently in the process of shortlisting. The election date hasn’t been announced yet, so there’s no rush,” he added.

Bittu criticised the AAP government for recent transfers of senior bureaucrats and police officers. He pointed out that officers like former Vigilance chief Varinder Kumar, Kuldeep Chahal, Jitendra Jorwal, and Gurkirat Kirpal were currently without posting.

“If AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora wins the byelection, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would be the first person to be affected as he would be sent to Rajya Sabha and out of the state. This is the design of the AAP,” he alleged.
