Amid the ongoing protests, stickers and key-chains with slogans supporting the farmers are trending among the youth. Cars bearing the stickers with slogans such as ‘Proud to be a farmer’, ‘I love kheti’, ‘No farmer, no food’ and ‘We support farmers’protest’, among others, have become a common sight.
Advocate Gursimranjit Singh Dhaliwal, who recently went to support the protest at the Delhi border, said, “I am a farmer. It is my duty to support and promote farming in this hour of crisis. The Centre has become so adamant, forcing us to protest in every possible manner. Any vehicle bearing a sticker in support of the farmers’ agitation is also a way of lodging a protest.”
Similarly, Harender Pal Singh, who owns a fuel station at Rupana village here, said, “Before leaving for Delhi on Saturday, I especially asked my son to paste a sticker on our car to support the protest. We saw a number of cars bearing similar stickers on the way to Delhi. Some people were even distributing stickers free of cost on the highway.”
A local trader said, “A number of youngsters are coming daily to buy stickers in support of the farmers’ protest. We have designed some keychains as well.”
