Minister for Industries and Commerce Sunder Sham Arora said the state government stands by its industrial sector in the times of Covid-19, and which is why 2.32 lakh industrial houses in the state have been allowed to resume their operations, barring only those located in containment zones.
The minister said this on Thursday when he was addressing a gathering during the foundation stone laying ceremony for upgradation of the existing focal point area in Moga city. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10 crore.
He said the state government had sought waiver from the Union Government on the existing bank loans of up to 6 months for all industries so that they could recuperate from the losses incurred due to the economic slowdown.
He said the state government had allocated Rs 200 crore for upgradation of 17 focal points in the state, while another Rs 200 crore had been allocated for setting up a cycle valley in Ludhiana.
Briefing mediapersons on the upgradation of Moga focal points, the minister said Rs 52.03 lakh would be spent on land leveling, including boundary wall, Rs 731.89 lakh on laying roads, Rs 10.65 lakh on water supply, Rs 146.99 lakh on power substation and Rs 10.69 lakh on laying drainage. The work is estimated to be completed within a year.
