Members of Shah Satnam Green Social Welfare Force, an NGO, rescued a cow that fell into a 17-ft deep uncovered tube well in Azamwala village near Patrewala bridge of Gang (Bikaner) canal on Friday.

Gurpreet Singh and Jasbir Singh Sandhu said Raj Sandhu, a farmer, informed them about the cow. Over 10 activists turned up and found that boundary wall had not been constructed despite state government’s notification about borewells/tube wells. They arranged rope and chains to lift the animal out of the tube well.

Activists said wood fire was arranged to provide relief to the animal from chill. Besides, diet and medical help was also provided. They said tube wells sans boundary wall were a threat to human beings as well. — OC
