Studying report of parliamentary panel on agriculture: Farm leaders
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are studying the report of the parliamentary committee on agriculture, headed by MP from Jalandhar Charanjit Singh Channi, to present their point of view. They, however, said the report seemed to have been “written positively”.
Farm leader from Haryana Abhimanyu Kohar, who has been camping at the Khanauri protest site where farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s indefinite fast entered the 27th day today, said as per Dallewal’s directive, their teams were studying the 550-page report handed over to the fasting farm leader by Charanjit Singh Channi the previous day.
Kohar said the report was in six volumes. In the first volume, it had been mentioned that a minimum support price (MSP) guarantee law should be enacted. The report also talked about the welfare of farm workers by recommending formation of a “National Commission for Minimum Living Wages for Farm Workers”.
The report also stressed that the policies related to export and import of agricultural produce should be formed after holding detailed talks with the farmers, he added.
He said on December 24, candle marches would be organised in the evening in support of the farmers’ demands. The participants would carry posters of Dallewal in their hands, he added.
A doctor who examined Dallewal said his health condition was very critical. He said discussions would be held with senior doctors in that regard.
Meanwhile, former MP from Sangrur Vijay Inder Singla and MP from Fatehgarh Sahib Dr Amar Singh visited the Khanauri protest site to meet Dallewal and enquire about his well-being on Sunday.
