Sumedh Singh Saini moves Punjab and Haryana High Court for anticipatory bail in corruption case

Former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini

Chandigarh, August 10

Two days after a Mohali court rejected former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini’s anticipatory bail application in a corruption case, he moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

His plea for anticipatory bail, filed through counsel Himmat Singh Deol, is scheduled to come up for hearing on Wednesday before Justice Avneesh Jhingan’s Bench. Rejecting Saini’s plea, the Mohali court had observed that the case was registered after a detailed inquiry was conducted by the VB on Joint Director’s complaint and was based on certain documents. Saini has all along been claiming false implication. — TNS
