Sunny Deol's bungalow in Mumbai's Juhu not to be auctioned; bank withdraws notice due to 'technical reasons'

The auction notice for actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol’s bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu has been withdrawn, the Bank of Baroda said in a statement on Monday.

The decision comes a day after the Bank of Baroda advertised about e-auctioning of the actor’s property to recover a loan of of about Rs 56 crore and the interest on that.

The bank in a newspaper advertisement on Monday said, “The sale notice in respect of Mr Ajay Singh Deol alias Mr Sunny Deol stands withdrawn due to Technical Reasons,” and listed the description of the property.

The Bank of Baroda had put on the block a property owned by Deol to recover the loan money  through an e-auction to be held on August 25.

The Gurdaspur MP, whose latest film, ‘Gaddar 2’ is a box office success having already grossed over Rs 300 crore since the release last week, has been in default on a Rs 55.99 crore loan from the bank and interest and penalty, since December 2022, the bank said in a public tender on Sunday.

The bank, which had attached the property, Sunny Villa, located on the Gandhigram Road in the Juhu area of the megapolis, had fixed the reserve price for the auction at Rs 51.43 crore and an earnest money deposit of Rs 5.14 crore.
