Bhinder, who was posted as SHO, Julka police station, was suspended for allegedly providing a head constable as a gunman to now suspended DSP Daljit Virk in an “unauthorised manner”.

A letter issued by the Additional DGP (Admin) said Bhinder, who was temporarily attached with the district cadre, had been shifted back to his parent cadre — PAP. Bhinder was temporarily attached with Patiala district despite the DGP’s orders prohibiting posting of PAP officers in districts.

“A departmental probe has been ordered against Bhinder and already a notice has been issued to him as to why his three-month salary should not be deducted for providing a head constable to someone illegally,” said SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu. “We received orders from headquarters last evening and Bhinder has been relieved and asked to join back his parent cadre,” said Sidhu.

The action against Bhinder comes after Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and five police personnel were booked by the Barnala police, after a video showing the singer shooting at a private firing range went viral on the social media. The head constable was also booked along with the others.
