Chandigarh, July 19

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today lashed out at the Centre for avoiding any reference to the “legal guarantee for minimum support price” in its recently constituted panel.

The PCC chief also lambasted the AAP government for its failure to pursue the matter with the Centre. He said, “The Central Government completely ignored Punjab while constituting the committee.”

“This reflects very poorly on the efficiency, capability and credibility of the AAP government,” said Warring.

He pointed out that the basic demand of farmers while lifting their year-long dharna was a legal guarantee for the MSP for various crops, but the terms of reference found no mention of legal guarantee of MSP.

He challenged AAP to list a single instance where it had approached the Union Government regarding assurances to the farmers. “Leave aside meeting the Prime Minister or the Agriculture Minister for the purpose, did you even write a single letter?” he asked.

Warring also took a dig at AAP MP Raghav Chadha for serving “suspension of business” notice in the Rajya Sabha. “You forgot the matter for four months. Now, you are trying to show as if you are really concerned,” he said.
