Take steps to end loot by pvt hospitals: AAP

Chandigarh, May 14

Punjab AAP chief Bhagwant Mann has asked the state to set up a nodal agency to curb the looting of Covid patients by private hospitals in the name of costly treatment. He said free treatment should be provided to the people, who were already suffering from the economic downturn.

Mann said due to lack of equipment, medicines and ventilators in government hospitals, people were forced to undergo treatment in private ones. He said the treatment of patients had been turned into a business by some private hospitals, who were charging Rs 10 to 15 lakh. “There are many cases where suchhospitals treated the patient and took Rs 15 lakh from the family but the latter still died.” — TNS

Opposes Cong camps

AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday said the vaccination camps set up by Congress leaders at various places in the name of protection against Covid was a violation of the Health Department rules. He said the leaders should stop playing with people’s lives.
