Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday said targeted killings were taking place in the state with the intent to disturb communal harmony. The Aam Aadmi Party government has “failed miserably” in keeping the law and order situation under control in the state, he alleged.

Jakhar was here to attend the bhog ceremony of RSS leader Baldev Arora’s son Naveen Arora, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Saturday evening.

Calling the killing an attack on “Punjabiat”, he said no Punjabi would tolerate such lawlessness. He said all recent targeted killings had been carried out in a similar pattern, which indicated a larger conspiracy aimed at disturbing state’s communal peace.

He alleged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was following orders from the AAP’s central leadership and had no control over the state. The ruling party was responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the BJP leader alleged.

Jakhar said, “At a time when we are celebrating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, who sacrificed his life for religious neutrality and the protection of all faiths, such targeted killings are a blot on the face of Punjab and Punjabi culture. The government has failed in its duty and till now no official reaction has come on this incident.”
