Office-bearers and activists of various social and educational organisations vowed to launch coordinated movements for the revival and preservation of the cultural heritage of the border state and adopt the values as elements of their lifestyle.
An oath was taken in response to a call made by the Malerkotla Deputy Commissioner, Pallavi, during the concluding session of the Teej function organised by the Malerkotla Ladies Club.
The DC appreciated the role played by the organisation in spreading awareness about the causes and consequences of social evils through cultural programs in the region. DC Pallavi claimed the imbibition of elements of culture made people innovative, restrictive, and dynamic, besides inculcating esteemed values and norms among them.
The DC called upon office-bearers and activists of the organisation to associate with campaigns being launched by the administration against the eradication of social evil, including illiteracy, gender bias, dowry, environmental pollution, and drug addiction. “It is high time when organisations working for the welfare of women should contribute to inculcating cultural values among youth, including their wards, so that social evils like drug abuse and crime against women can be checked,” said DC Pallavi.
