The rain that lashed the region last night has led to a sharp increase in the water level in the Chandbhan drain, causing a temporary bridge at Rupana village on the Muktsar-Malout road to submerge. As a result, the traffic movement on the stretch has been suspended.

“Due to safety concerns, the traffic has been diverted through nearby villages until the water recedes. Some people are, however, still risking their lives,” said Sajan Khosa, son a former sarpanch.

Villagers urged the administration to expedite the construction of the new bridge to save them from inconvenience.
