Tension in Punjab’s Phagwara as man is killed following 'desecration' bid at gurdwara

Phagwara, January 16

Tension prevailed here as a man was killed after he allegedly tried to desecrate Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi at Bansanwala Bazaar.

The incident took place at 3 am on Tuesday. 

It is learnt that a migrant stayed at the gurdwara and allegedly tried to desecrate it. A Nihang Sikh reportedly captured the man on camera and allegedly killed him.

A sharp-edged weapon was used to kill the man. The accused has been arrested.

In the video recorded by the Nihang Sikh, the migrant said he had been sent by one Sukhi for the desecration, but he had done nothing of the sort.

The body has been sent to Jalandhar for post-mortem.
