Tarn Taran, November 21

At least 15 policemen who were tested positive in the second dope test have been sent to the Police Lines with immediate effect. The office of SSP Dhruv Dahiya today issued the orders and the cops have been instructed to report at the Police Lines.

According the list released by the SSP office, there were four employees of the rank of ASI and the remaining were head constables.

Jagjit Singh Walia, SP (Investigation), said a departmental inquiry had been initiated and it would be investigated that whether the employees were addicts or were taking some medicine prescribed by doctors.

The dope tests of the total 23 policemen of the district were conducted at the civil hospital and their reports were declared negative. SSP Dhruv Dahiya observed some discrepancy and sent the employees to the Amritsar hospital for retest. This time, the reports were declared positive.

Dahiya wrote a letter to the local Deputy Commissioner levelling allegation of corrupt practice at the local civil hospital where the dope test reports were “fudged”.

Sources said the ASIs who had been shifted were Gurvel Singh, Rasal Singh, Charanjit Singh and Samunder Singh. The head constables were Darshan Singh, Sahib Singh, Balwinder Singh, Gurdial Singh Chabal, Rajbir Singh, Sursingh, Balkar Singh Bhikhiwind, Joginder Pal, Harjineder Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Sunil Kumar.

ASI Darshan Singh and head constable Tehal Singh have already been terminated after a video showing them consuming heroin went viral on social media.
