Sangrur police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang involved in thefts in garment shops in various districts of the state and arrested three members of the gang.
Police have also confiscated stolen garments worth Rs 10 lakhs along with two vehicles.
While sharing details, Sangrur SSP Vivek Sheel Soni informed that on a secret information, a police team of Sangrur city under the supervision of DSP Rural Satpal Sharma has arrested three accused, Mandeep Singh, Shamsher Singh and Baldev Singh, from Ludhiana last evening.
From the accused, police have seized stolen garments worth Rs 10 lakhs, one Bolero car and one canter.
During investigations, it has come to light that the Bolero car was stolen from Morinda while the canter from Jalandhar.
“During the intervening night of November 26-27, the accused had stolen garments from the shop of Hemant Kumar from Sangrur city. We have registered a case and during investigations, the involvement of arrested accused has come to light and we have arrested them,” said SSP Soni.
The SSP informed that during preliminary investigations, it has come to light that arrested accused have been facing various FIRs in other districts also, including Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Moga.
“Mainly they targeted garment shops as they had some purchasers. We have procured their two days police remand and further investigations are on to arrest their other members,” said SSP Soni.
