Three cousins drown while bathing in gurdwara pond in Punjab's Jalalabad

In a tragic incident, three minor cousins, including two girls, drowned while taking a bath in a gurdwara pond in Sher Mohammad village of Jalalabad subdivision today. One child, however, managed to save himself.

The deceased have been identified as Harpreet Singh (9) of Daroga village, Priya (11) of Sukhera Bodla village and Seerat (10) of Chhote Jandwale Jhuge village in Guruharsahai subdivision of Ferozepur district.

Two sisters of Jasvir Singh along with their children had come to meet their brother in Daroga village. The incident took place when the family members were busy transplanting paddy in the fields of nearby Sher Mohammad village.

Sources said as the children entered in the pond, they slipped into deep water. Three of them drowned on the spot while the fourth child was able to save himself.

The children were taken out of the pond after some time and taken to the Jalalabad Civil Hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, the survivor, in a video clip, has alleged that after rescuing himself, he informed some persons in the gurdwara about the incident and asked them to save the others, but no one paid heed to his appeal.
