Three held with 1.5 kg heroin in Kapurthala
The Kapurthala police on Thursday seized 1.5 kg of heroin — valuing over Rs 7 crore in the international market — from three drug smugglers.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora and SP (Investigation) Prabhjot Singh Virk said the smugglers had picked the consignment from Amritsar and were going towards Jalandhar in an car.
The accused were intercepted at Dhilwan Hi-Tech Naka. Those held were identified as Deep Singh, Baljinder Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, all residents of Jalandhar. The police said Baljinder Singh was already facing two cases under the NDPS Act and was out on bail.
The police said the arrested drug smugglers were in this business for the past over a month and had already delivered two consignments.
3 nabbed with poppy husk
Abohar: The police seized 104 kg of poppy husk from three persons in Sriganganagar’s Rayianwali village. The accused have been identified as Shiv Dutt, alias Sandeep, of Abohar’s Bazidpur Bhoma village, Rajbir Singh of Banwala village of Muktsar and Vijay Singh of Pakka Kalan in Bathinda. — OC
