Three held with 84 desi liquor bottles at Sangrur

The district police have arrested three persons with 84 bottles of ‘sharab theka desi’ and registered cases against them under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act at the Bhawanigarh and Dirba police stations.

The Jollian police seized 36 bottles of ‘sharab theka desi’ from a person near the grain market of the village during the checking of a bag of the suspect. The police said he was arrested, and a case was registered against him at the Bhawanigarh police station.

The police said the Dirba police seized 24 bottles of ‘sharab theka desi’ from a person during a raid on the Janal village road (Dirba). The police said the informer had told them that the suspect sold ‘sharab theka desi’ by bringing the same at low rates. They said the suspect was arrested and a case was registered against him at the Dirba police station.

The police said the Kohrian chowki (Dirba) intercepted a motorcycle-borne youth near Rogla village’s drain bridge and seized 24 bottles of ‘sharab theka desi’ from his bag.
