Three held with drugs in Sangrur

Sangrur, July 13

Three persons, including two women, were arrested under various Sections of the NDPS Act by two parties of the Sangrur CIA and a police party of Dhuri police station. A seizure of 1.5 kg opium, 10 grams of heroin/white powder and 100 intoxicant pills was also made.

Dhuri police, Sangrur police and Lehra police also seized 97 bottles of liquor and 100 litres of lahan from three persons, including a woman, who was yet to be arrested. They have been booked under Sections 61, 1, and 14 of the Excise Act.

A party of the Sangrur CIA recovered 1.5 kg opium from a resident of Jharkhand. After seeing a police party at the Moonak grain market, the suspect he threw a plastic envelope and tried to flee.

The police searched the envelope and recovered 1.5 kg opium. The suspect was arrested and a case was registered against him under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Moonak police station.

In another case, the Sangrur CIA arrested a woman at Sunam when she threw a plastic envelope on the ground. On checking of the envelope, the police party found 10 grams of heroin/white powder in it. A case was registered against her under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Sunam city police station.

A police party of Dhuri also recovered 100 intoxicant pills from a woman, a resident of Dhuri. A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against her at city police station, Dhuri.

The Dhuri police recovered 48 bottles of ‘desi sharab’ in a plastic container from a resident of Sangrur at Dhuri, while Sangrur police seized 24 bottles of ‘theka sharab angrezi’ from a resident of Bangawali village at Sangrur.

Besides, Lehra police have recovered 100 litres of lahan and 25 bottles of illicit liquor from the house of a woman at Haryau village (Lehra). The arrest of the woman was yet to be made.
