The owner of a Fazilka-based coaching centre on the charge of impersonating a candidate in the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) here on Sunday.
PSTET was conducted across the state on Sunday.
In Faridkot’s New Model Senior Secondary School, coaching centre owner Navdeep Kaur (30) appeared in place of her sister-in-law Harshdeep Kaur of Amritsar.
Navdeep had allegedly tampered with the Aadhaar card of her sister-in-law to mislead the examiners, but they got suspicious when the photo on the admit slip did not match with the one on the Aadhaar card.
The cross-checking of the mobile number and the signature made it clear that Navdeep was impersonating, the police said.
On the complaint of Superintendent of the exam centre, the police registered a case under Section 419 and 420 of the IPC against Navdeep and Harshdeep.
Navdeep had cracked the PSTET last year.
In Muktsar, the police arrested a man, identified as Bhajan Singh of Fazilka district, for allegedly impersonating as Baljinder Kamboj, also from Fazilka, in the PSTET. Bhajan Singh had pasted his photograph on Kamboj’s admit card. The police said invigilators suspected his credentials after cross-checking documents.
A case against the accused has been registered at the Muktsar (City) police station.
