Two residents of Abohar have been held in Sriganganagar with about 100 kg of poppy husk.

SP Gaurav Yadav said early today, a police team had set up a naka on National Highway 62 in the Raziasar area. He said during that time, a car coming from Bikaner was searched. He said the police team recovered about one quintal and 580 gm of illegal poppy husk was from the vehicle.

The Superintendent of Police said the suspects were identified as Damanjeet Singh (36) and Jovar Singh (35), residents of Street No. 2 in Sarabhanagar in Abohar, adding that both were arrested.

The police said the suspects were returning to Abohar after purchasing poppy husk illegally from the Bikaner area. They said a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspects and the investigation of the case has been handed over to police.
