Two dead, 3 hurt in road accident near Kartarpur Sahib
Two persons were killed and three others were seriously injured when a speeding SUV hit a taxi head-on on the national highway near Kiratpur Sahib on Friday morning.
Taxi driver Yuvraj Singh (30), a resident of Kangri, was killed on the spot, while Deepti Sharma of Hamirpur died later. Her child was also injured in the accident. All injured were admitted to a hospital.
Local residents said the SUV coming from Delhi was on the wrong side and it hit the taxi coming from the Hamirpur side. The SUV driver, one woman and a co-passenger reportedly fled the spot after the accident.
Car occupants were extricated from the mangled remains of the vehicle by passers-by. Kiratpur SHO Jatin Kapoor said a case had been registered and the probe was on.
