Muktsar: Two youngsters from Lundewala village, identified as Sukhjinder Singh and Rajwinder Singh, are feared to have drowned in Rajasthan feeder canal near Gurusar village here on Tuesday. A police team led by Gidderbaha DSP reached the spot and started a search operation. Some residents of Lundewala village said that first Sukhjinder jumped into the canal and thereafter, Rajwinder jumped to save him. TNS

Bus rams into tree, five hurt

Fazilka: A Punjab Roadways bus going from Jalalabad to Fatehabad rammed into a tree near Chak Saidoke village on Tuesday morning. The driver could not spot the road due to poor visibility resulting from thick fog. Five passengers who sustained minor injuries, were taken to Jalalabad Civil Hospital. OC

Truck catches fire in Abohar

Abohar: A fire broke out in a mini truck here carrying plastic crates to load fruits, when the owner, identified as Jammu resident Kabul Singh, was getting the vehicle repaired at a gas welding shop. Within a few seconds, hundreds of crates were burnt to ashes. Firemen reached the spot and controlled the fire. OC

Drone, drugs seized near IB

Chandigarh: The Border Security Force (BSF) seized a China-made drone along with 500 gm heroin near the International Border in Amritsar’s Daoke village on Monday night. An empty pistol magazine and a torch were also found nearby. In another incident, the BSF troops shot down a drone near Dal village here. TNS

Smuggler’s property attached

Muktsar: The police today attached the residence of an alleged drug peddler Saanvi, alias Malti, of Bura Gujjar Road here. DSP Satnam Singh said drugs in commercial quantity were seized from Saanvi in 2020 and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against her. “We have today displayed a notice outside Saanvi’s residence worth about Rs 23.25 lakh,” said the DSP. Potable water for Malout

Muktsar: Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that all residents of Malout town would soon get potable water supply. The work in this regard would start soon as Rs 23 crore would be spent under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) project’s second phase, the minister added.
