Two migrant labourers electrocuted to death in Punjab’s Kapurthala

They were attempting to extract honey from beehive at Sainik School

Two migrant labourers were electrocuted on Saturday while attempting to extract honey from a beehive within the premises of Sainik School in Kapurthala.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the iron ladded, which the workers were using came into contact with a live electric wire passing near the tree.

Both men died on the spot.

City Deputy Superientendent of Police Karandeep Singh confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Sachin (35) and Dinesh (40), both residents of Uttar Pradesh.

They were hired to remove beehives from the trees within the campus. Their iron-made stair came in contact with an electric wire and they got electrocuted, Singh said.

The school authorities handed over the bodies to the police. The bodies have been sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
