Unfreeze bank accounts: Suspended DIG Bhullar files plea in CBI court
The CBI had arrested Bhullar and his alleged aide Kirshanu Sharda on October 16 for seeking bribes from a complainant
Suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar has filed an application before the CBI Court, for directions to the agency for unfreezing his bank accounts.
In an application, Bhullar said that the CBI had frozen all his accounts after his arrest. The court has issued notice to the CBI to file the reply on November 20. The counsel for Bhullar said that freezing of all accounts, including those of his family members, was causing great hardship to his family as it had become difficult to meet daily expenses and other expenses related to agriculture works also. Bhullar is in judicial custody till November 20.

As per the FIR, DIG Bhullar was allegedly seeking bribe from the complainant through Kirshanu Sharda. They were arrested on the complaint of a scrap dealer from Mandi Gobindgarh Naresh Batta. The complainant alleged that Bhullar demanded a bribe of Rs 8 lakh through a middleman, Kirshanu, to settle a 2023 FIR lodged at the Sirhind police station.
After the arrest, the CBI raided various locations related to the DIG and claimed that it seized cash, jewellery and documents related to the investments. After that, both CBI and Vigilance Bureau Punjab registered cases of disproportionate assets cases.
