Ending speculation of a rift between the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), led by Sarwan Singh Pandher, and the SKM (Non-Political), headed by Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the two groups have issued a joint letter calling for a fourth round of unity talks with the SKM (All-India). The meeting is scheduled for February 27 in Chandigarh.

Both unions have been protesting at the Shambu and Khanauri borders since February 13 last year. Earlier, the SKM (Non-Political) had withdrawn from the third round of unity talks just hours before the scheduled meeting on February 11, citing the unavailability of their top leadership.

In the joint letter, a copy of which is with The Tribune, the forums stated, “We hope that your delegation will attend the meeting in the public interest.” The letter also mentioned that the timing and date of the meeting could be adjusted if it clashes with the government-led panel’s meeting. The first two rounds of talks, held on January 13 and January 18, had remained inconclusive.
