Animal Husbandry Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian today launched a statewide vaccination campaign to protect cows from lumpy skin disease at a cow shelter in Malout town here.

Khuddian said the state government had purchased 25 lakh doses of lumpy skin disease vaccine of Rs 1.31 crore and the teams of the department would go door to door to vaccinate all cows in the state.

He further said the state government had provided free medicine for snake bite treatment of animals in all 22 veterinary polyclinics and 97 tehsil level hospitals in the state.

The minister also released a poster to make the livestock owners aware of the ill effects of lumpy skin disease. Dr Gursharanjit Singh Bedi, Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab, was also present on the occasion.
