A day after five Sikh high priests pronounced religious punishment to Akali leader Virsa Singh Valtoha and four others, he performed “sewa” of washing utensils and cleaning shoes to complete his ‘tankhah’ at the Golden Temple on Tuesday morning. He started atonement by washing utensils at Guru Ramdas Jee Langar Hall and Joda Ghar.

He was punished for making derogatory remarks against Jathedars in October 2024. He also tendered an apology for recording an audio without permission. Sikh clergy withdrew the 10-year ban imposed by the SAD on him last year.

UK-based Sikh preacher Harinder Singh also performed “sewa”. He was held guilty of speaking a disrespectful word against a Guru.
